Performed on a database of 2,561 travelers, the study validates recent forecasts by travel experts on consumers’ interests in comparison shopping.
Comparison Shopping Trends for Chicago
The study revealed that 66 percent of the vacation planners who inquired for a place to stay showed interest in comparison shopping among Chicago vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts, and hotels. Sixty-five percent of travelers were also open to receive offers from nearby destinations like Oak Park, Bedford Park, Bridgeview, Oak Lawn, Melrose Park, Oak Brook and others.
Vacation Planning Trends for Chicago
Twenty-two percent were early planners who started their vacation planning 1 to 2 months in advance, 33 percent were from last minute travelers inquiring within the last 30 days prior to arriving to their Chicago lodging, and another 44 percent were travelers planning at least 2 months prior to arriving to Chicago.
Vacation Themes for Chicago
Chicago’s most popular vacation theme is family reunions with 31 percent of the inquiries requesting accommodations for groups of more than 4 adults or families with kids, 26 percent for couples on romantic getaways, and 22 percent for people traveling alone.
