Rentalo.com upgrades site for ease (05/25/2004)

By Nadine Godwin

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. -- Rentalo.com, an Internet search engine focusing on nonstandard accommodations, rolled out an upgrade that allows for more specific and quicker searches.

With new "sort-by" and "filter-by" options, the user -- after selecting the destination -- can search by price, size of property, name and type of facility [house vs. apartment etc.]. Rentalo said searchers can hone in further, to sort by amenities, such as cell phones, DVDs, Web access, pet-friendliness, handicapped accessibility, local transportation, pool, Jacuzzi, sports and attractions.

The listed properties -- which range from rental homes, villas, apartments and condos to hotels and B&Bs -- pay to participate.

The business was founded in 1995 by Alfredo Purrinos, a former NASA engineer. Rentalo is a division of Hi Q Telecom of Miami Lakes, Fla.
